Roots Yoga is the brain child of Maggie and Austin Lehrian. Newly married, they sought to connect their combined forces with the community in a deeper way. Not only are they “rooted” in Hawley, having spent the majority of their lives in the region, the Lehrian’s also have an immense love for the outdoors and everything nature.
Maggie, a yoga teacher whose passion in life is to improve the lives of others, saw an opportunity to bring a more connected, spiritually driven practice of yoga to the Lake Wallenpaupack Region. Maggie began her journey on the yogic path in 2008 after moving back to Hawley from busy NYC. Her experiences in NYC fueled a tremendous amount of growth and clarity; however, she realized she is indeed a country girl at heart. She immediately fell in love with the practice and in 2010 became a 200 hour certified Hatha yoga teacher through the Himalayan Institute in Honesdale, PA. Since then, her practice and teaching continues to evolve daily, learning much from her students and the world around her. “My favorite part of teaching is when my students inquire about deeper practices. My job as a yoga teacher is to guide students within. The results- calm, open-mindedness, joy, are beyond fulfilling.”
Austin owns a small construction company by day, but is a serial entrepreneur at heart. His ultimate passion is organic gardening. They live with their cat, Oscar, in Greentown.
The mission behind Roots Yoga is to create an oasis for the local community and for those who have retreated here. A sanctuary for people to be themselves and feel a sense of inspiring freedom. We intend to foster this liberated community by expanding minds through yoga, meditation, systematic relaxation, Satsang (def: assembly of persons who listen to, talk about, and assimilate the truth), and more. Roots Yoga also exists to make yoga and its nourishing and enriching benefits accessible to as many people as possible.
